Premier BJJ Training in Bedford, MA | Bernardo Faria Academy

Today I am here with Marcos Tinoco who is one of my good friends.  I used to train with him at Marcelo’s in NYC.  Marcos is a black belt under Marcelo Garcia and he has placed at the adult black belt worlds multiple times.  This year he got second.  Marcos has also won the Europeans and many other high level tournaments.  Marcos and I trained together for years and he has the best lasso guard I ever saw.  Today I asked him to show us one sweep and arm bar that he always does, check it out below and then I will do some breakdown.

Breakdown of Marcos Tinoco Lasso Guard Sweep With Crazy Fast Arm Bar:

So guys as you can see this is a very simple sweep with the lasso that anyone can do.  It is not fancy and it is very effective.  Marcos is basically setting his opponent up.
Marcos is going to put in the lasso and he is going to turn on his side so that he is able to bait his opponent to screen-shot-2016-12-01-at-6-47-41-pm   pass his guard.  When they do this he is going to block the cross face. This is the most important detail because if he does not block the cross face he will get his guard passed.
Once he is able to block the cross face he is going to hook their leg and all he needs to do is switch his hips.  Once he switches his hips it is so hard to keep your balance.  One thing he does different is he always like to get the submission.  Marcos knows his opponent will react and expect him to get up so he waits for them to push back, pulls the arm in and gets the submission.  I hope you like this position and try it out, OSS!
