Premier BJJ Training in Bedford, MA | Bernardo Faria Academy

Today I am here with Gabriel Arges.  He is one of the toughest guys of the new generation and it is a huge pleasure for me! He is only 24 years old and he is already a two time Black Belt World Champion.  He is a black belt under Romulo Barral, a multiple time Black Belt World Champion, a friend, and one guy I look up to so much!  Today Gabriel is going to show us one of his favorite techniques.  It is a knee bar from the 50/50.  This is a position that we see a lot in competition and Gabriel used this in the finals of the worlds in 2017.  Let’s take a look at how he does it and then we will break it down.

Breakdown of the Kneebarges by Gabriel Arges:

Okay guys this is a very high level technique because it is very dependent on having good timing.  Timing is so important in bjj and it is what differentiates a lot of the best in the world from the rest.  Timing is key.
If you notice Gabriel has done this so many times that he knows exactly when he has the momentum to go for the knee bar.  Gabriel plays the 50/50 game for a little and pretends that he wants the sweep so that his opponent will sweep him back.  When his opponent tries to sweep him this is when he turns all the way to the knee bar.
The way that Gabriel finishes with his feet is also very important, it is super tight guys and therescreen-shot-2016-12-01-at-6-47-41-pm is nowhere to go.  Anyways guys I hope you like this technique and try it out! If you have not already check out my FREE E-Book! I talk a lot about things that I know will help you! Oss!
