Today I have the pleasure of being here with Dean Lister. I was stopping by the Bjj Super Deals and Bjj Fanatics studio and I found this guy here. For those of you who don’t know, Dean won the most prestigious title in all of grappling. He won the ADCC open weight class! Dean Lister is a monster at Jiu Jitsu and we all know this. Today, he is going to show us some self-defense techniques. Dean shows a cool way to get out of a very popular position called the full nelson. Check out the video below and than I will do a breakdown.
Breakdown of Dean Lister’s Full Nelson Escape:
So guys it was probably hard to tell in the video what Dean was doing to me and why I kept letting go of the full nelson but I promise it was working. Basically the most important detail of this is to put your hands in front of your own neck. The main thing is to be able to protect your neck.
After you have your hands in front of your neck, all you have to do is push your neck back into your opponent and use your hands at the same time. When Dean did this to me it became very difficult to hold my full nelson and I had to let go.
What is happening is that Dean is putting a lot of pressure on my hands by using both his hands and his neck to make me let go, this position is popular with people that don’t know how to do it and it can be very dangerous. I thought this escape was simple and easy to use so I share with you guys. Anyways, hope you like! If you haven’t downloaded my FREE E-book check it out guys! I think this can help you a lot with your training!
