Premier BJJ Training in Bedford, MA | Bernardo Faria Academy

Guys today I am here with Todd Williams, I am going to do a seminar with him here and he is a black belt under Luiz Palhares.  Todd is also a 2 time Olympian for track and field and he has a very cool program called “Runsafer” which is to help people, especially girls on how to be safe when they run.  Women are always in danger when they go for run or something like this and Todd has made a big impact on helping people.  It is really cool what people do with their Jiu Jitsu.  Todd is an awesome coach and teacher and is really good at self-defense.  Today he is going to show us one of his favorite attacks from the knee shield where he controls the lapels and does some weird choke.  It is very good and works.  I was rolling with him before we filmed and he was playing with my lapels, it is cool.  Let’s see it below and then I will break it down.

Breakdown of Todd Williams Different Lapel Choke from the Knee Shield:

So guys this is why I love Jiu Jitsu, I know I always say it but everybody has different techniques that they are good at.  This is a perfect example.  This is something I have never seen before and it is very creative.  When I was rolling with Todd he was always playing with his lapels from the half guard or the knee shield.
It is a good trap especially if someone does not know that it is coming.  This choke is using your own lapel which is very different from many traditional chokes.  When Todd applied it to me drilling, man it was so tight.  It is a good technique.
It is also good because if someone tries to defend or keeps fighting Todd is ready for this screen-shot-2016-12-01-at-6-47-41-pm  situation and can attack the sweep.  So no matter what your opponent is doing this is tough to deal with.  Anyways guys I hope you enjoyed this technique and try it out!  Don’t forget to download my FREE E-book if you have not already, I really think that this can help everyone! Oss!
