Premier BJJ Training in Bedford, MA | Bernardo Faria Academy

Today I am here with Justin Hill.  Justin is a brown belt under Marcelo Garcia and I used to train with him in NYC.  Justin is really tough and was one of the guys that was always at the academy and was always doing all of mine and Marcelo’s classes.  We are at my Academy in the Boston area and it is a pleasure to have him on my YouTube channel.  Today Justin is going to show us how to do one of his favorite passes.  The pass is against the butterfly guard and it is like a really quick knee slide.  This is something that Marcelo is really good at but Justin modified it a little bit so that he can go strait to the side control.  Let’s check it out below and then I will do a breakdown.

Breakdown of Butterfly Guard Pass with Justin Hill:

So as you can see above this is a really quick pass against the butterfly guard.  Like I describe earlier, Marcelo does something very very similar to this position but he like to end up in half guard.  If Marcelo is going against someone with a very good guard many time he will do something like this and force the half guard like I was showing above.  Marcelo is the best in the world at passing the half guard.
The way that Justin does it is really good, and I have seen him doing something like this at the academy all thescreen-shot-2016-12-01-at-6-47-41-pm      time on all of the students.  This is a little bit explosive, but it works.  Basically, Justin is going to start with the hand fighting.  He cannot let his opponent establish any grips or it can stop the pass.  So before his opponent can do anything he is going to hand fight.
Once he is ready Justin is going to jump with an under hook and go strait to side.  He is doing like a knee slide as he pushes his opponents knee.  The most important things here are that you get the under hook and as you start the pass you make sure to hit their knee.
Anyways guys I hope you like this position and try it out in training, if you have not already download my FREE E-Book.  I answer a lot of questions that people always ask me in class, seminars and on messages.  Oss guys!
