Premier BJJ Training in Bedford, MA | Bernardo Faria Academy

Today I am here with a very special guest, my friend Travis Stevens.  Travis is a Judo Olympic Silver Medalist and he is also a world class bjj black belt.  He got the black belt in bjj very quickly and was able to compete against the toughest guys with a lot of success.  Travis has done Copa Podio and he has gone against guys like Yuri Simoes at Fight to Win Pro.  It is a pleasure for me to be here with him.  Since he is one of the best Judoka’s in the entire world I asked him to show us some standing technique.  Today Travis is going to show us how to break the posture while our opponent is standing.  Lets take a look at the video below and then I will break it down.

Breakdown of How to Break the Standing Posture by Travis Stevens:

So guys this is a great technique and it is important to know for the guys that like to do some judo or wrestling.  It is fairly simple and it does not take a lot of skill.  Basically, what Travis does is get my gi and move it left to right as he backs up.
As Travis does this my head is moving back and forth and it causes me to move closer to him in an uncontrolled screen-shot-2016-12-01-at-6-47-41-pm way.  This is a super uncomfortable position. The way that Travis does it, you really have to feel how uncomfortable it is.  Like I said in the video I would pull guard if someone started doing this to me.
Anyways guys, I really hope you enjoyed this technique and are able to use it in your training.  There is no one in the world that is better at doing Judo for bjj than Travis.  Osss!
