Premier BJJ Training in Bedford, MA | Bernardo Faria Academy

Today I am here with Kurt Osiander, this is a huge pleasure for me.  He is one of the most popular Jiu Jitsu guys in the world, I think almost anyone who does bjj probably knows who he is.  He is also the head instructor of the Ralph Gracie School in San Francisco which is one of the best schools in the world.  Kurt has been training bjj for so long and he has always been one of the most popular guys.  Today I asked him to show us a position that he likes from the side control which is a loop choke.  He is really good with this position and it is a position that we normally don’t see.

Breakdown of The Side Control Loop Choke By Kurt Osiander:

Guys this is a really cool position and it is one that I was not to familiar with.  Last week I had Alexandre Vieira on who is famous for his loop choke and one of the things that I have always loved about Jiu Jitsu is the fact that there are so many different ways to do one position.
Last week we saw how to do the loop choke from the bottom side control and now Kurt is going to show us how toscreen-shot-2016-12-01-at-6-47-41-pm do it from the top.  The way Kurt does it is very sneaky because he lets the person think that they can come up.
It is always good to let someone think they have the advantage and than trap them.  What Kurt is doing that is very important is actually with his second hand.  HE is using this to push the back of my head into the lapel even tighter.  When he does this it gets so tight.
Something else that he does is tighten the lapel so that he can get the grip crazy tight.  Anyways guys I really hope you like this position and try it out! Oss!
