Today I am here with Nathan Jeffers, I was doing a seminar here at Tom Oberhue’s school in Portland, Oregon. Nathan just got his black belt and Nathan is really impressive because he is 51 years old and he plays a game exactly like mine. He likes to play the half guard like mine and play the over under as his passing game. Guys 51 years old and Nathan moves really well with these positions. Nathan has actually done some private lessons with me in New York and he is very high level with these positions. I love seeing people, especially older guys like Nathan, playing my game. I try to make it simple and effective.  We were rolling and he was going something super interesting from the deep half guard so he is going to show us below and then I will do a break down.
Breakdown of Nathan Jeffers Different Deep Half Guard Sweep:
Guys this sweep was something I have never seen before, sometimes things are so simple in Jiu Jitsu and we over look them, but a sweep is a sweep. In this position, he is looking for the Turkish get up but I am defending the position by putting my leg by his head up to try and pass it over and controlling the sleeve.
When I do this I have good base for most of the deep half guard sweeps but Nathan bumps me with his knee and it shifts my weight, after he bumps me he turns on his side and sweeps me. Super easy and super effective, he was doing while we rolled and it was good.
The most important things are to bump me and control my ankle, when you do this you can get  up into the double unders position or the over under, the only thing you need to be careful with is the triangle! Anyways guys I hope you like this position I know I do and if you have not already download my FREE E-book! Oss!
